After serving in the Korean War, Frank M Almester returned to Toledo to start his own business servicing sinks and drains (Rotor Rooter type business) as ABC Sewer. He then purchased Ace Septic Tank and Porta Potty Service in 1965. Ace was the first portable toilet company in the Toledo, Ohio area. Owners: Greg & Heather Shepherd, Bowling Green, OH Greg and Jenny Neville, Bowling Green, KY Established: 2006 Stadium Salsa is a line of delicious, all-natural salsas and tortilla chips made right here in the Toledo Region. Known as the “Official Salsa of the Toledo Mud Hens, “Official Salsa to the Toledo Walleye, “Preferred Salsa to Western Kentucky Athletics”, and the “Official Salsa to the Bowling Green Hot Rods”, Stadium Salsa, LLC was founded during local tailgates. Says Greg Shepherd, “We are a sports family that enjoys tailgating, family get-togethers, etc.…and our ‘go-to’ was also making fresh salsa. We were asked by a small local store if we could make enough for them to sell. Not knowing what we didn’t know, we said, ‘sure.’ Hence, the ‘hobby-gone-wild’ story begins.”

By: Jon Ottman Inspired by a passion for history and a deep respect for the service and sacrifice of the U.S. Military, brothers John Nowakowski of Swanton and Jeff Nowakowski of Sylvania formed The Last Patrol Museum in 1991. Incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit in 1995, the group’s mission is to develop a military museum and national youth training facility in Toledo. For several years, the Last Patrol has had a very close working relationship with the Commodore Perry Division of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets and Navy League Cadets.
